Luk 24:26 Was it not necessary that the Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?
The certainty of our message is that Christ suffered and died for our sins. As D.L. Moody once said ”To create, God only had to speak. To redeem Christ had to suffer”. Suffering and death were necessary. They were in accordance with the will of God that the Christ should suffer, and so enter into His glory.
The work of Calvary, the atonement, must be the center for our consideration, it is the centrality of our saving message. It is the message that transcends all. The message of His suffering and death are not complete without resurrection where lies our hope for which He is glorified and we have our salvation, 1Co 15:14 “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.” Christ’s humility was before His exaltation. And as in Christ, men are first humbled and laid low in their own eyes, and then they are raised out of their low estate and are set on high, Heb 2:9-10 ”9… Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 10 For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering.”
