Luk 24:15-16, 15 While they were talking and discussing together, Jesus himself drew near and went with them. 16 But their eyes were kept from recognizing him.
These 2 men, the disciples of Jesus journeyed struggling in their faith. Despite their struggles, they determined not allow their doubts to keep them from discussing and reasoning concerning Jesus. They were searching for answers no one could give them, that is until Jesus Himself drew near and went with them. Jesus was not discouraged by their doubt or that they forgot His many teachings concerning Himself. He invited Himself and went with them on their long journey as a great companion they needed, and as one who draws closer than a brother.
He who laid down His life sought those that doubted His resurrection. Jesus always seeks struggling hearts. He gives His presence to sorrowing souls. They may not recognize Him at first but He will be faithful to walk with His children to revive and preserve their faith. One of the greatest comforts believers have is that it’s not our holding of Him that keeps us going but His holding of us. There are seasons we become weary and let go, He never let’s go of us.
