Like 5:5 But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word, I will let down the net”.
The journey of faith requires practical application or attempts. The reality we all face is that while we know the truth of faith, we are often deficient to act on it. Peter heard the message but his faith was still weak. By logic, a teacher and carpenter would know little to nothing about fishing he would have thought, Despite the struggle, he said, “Lord we have tried our way and failed but at this moment we will trust your way even if it does not make sense”. Peter fished at night, the time fish was expected, here Jesus was telling him to cast his nets during daytime. Professional fishermen bowed their knowledge, expertise, and experience to God for His move.
Point #5, We must be willing to obedient to act on what the Lord tells us without doubting even if it does not make sense to us. Our expertise and knowledge need to be subject to His word or they fail without God. Ponder on this, the miracle of the great catch was not when they caught the fishes, it’s when they believed and obeyed. Mark 16:17, “And these signs will follow those who believe…” A number follow signs, the bible says signs follow those who believe. We toiled all night many months, it’s a new day, let’s have faith in what the Lord has for us as we grow closer to Him.
