Luke 5:1 So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret
Peter at this point was not one of Jesus’ core disciples. It’s here with this miracle of his greatest catch that he would be called to follow Christ. But before then, the multitude that followed Christ pressed about Him to hear more of His teachings. He led them by the lake just where the discouraged Peter and His friends were washing their nets. I can only imagine Peter and the rest looking at the multitude (good for business) they could have sold fish to. Christ first fed them with Spiritual food. He came right where Peter was, and perhaps that morning the message was specifically for Peter.
Point #1, We ought to press in to study and feed on God’s word even more. That is to esteem His word more than our necessary food. The multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God. God first!!, Matt 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
