1Tim 3:14-16, 16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, Justified in the Spirit, Seen by angels, Preached among the Gentiles, Believed on in the world, Received up in glory.
Having discussed the pillar and ground of the truth, Paul further presses upon Timothy to be constant in regard to the greatest diligence in handling God’s word. He outlines 6 pillars he termed “the mystery of godliness“, that is what God has revealed to us in the gospel in order to make men godly. These 6 are, 1. God was manifested in the flesh, 2. Justified in the Spirit, 3. Seen by angels, 4. Preached among the Gentiles, 5. Believed on in the world, 6. Received up in glory.
These pillars are under great attack even among believers yet they are what makes the church stand. Psa 11:3 “If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” To stray from these truths is to be labeled a heretic (deviation from truth) which can be avoided by rightly handling the word of truth. I will address each pillar in depth.
