Exo 28:1-5, 2 Make sacred garments for your brother Aaron, to give him dignity and honor, 3, …, for his consecration, so he may serve me as a priest.
God instructs Moses to make garments for Aaron as priest. The garment was to give him dignity and honor for his consecration. Priests ministered to the Lord and brought messages from the Lord to the people, this was a special task.
God in similar fashion has clothed us with dignity and honor by sending His Son to the cross to die for the shamed human race. It is through Him that we are called, clothed and empowered to become ministering priests to Him daily. Paul writes in Rom 13:14 “Put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ … “, this putting on the Lord Jesus gives us dignity and honor for our consecration (set apart) for the Master. God had to clothe us in Jesus to remove all our guilt and shame. And just as in Gen 3:1-21 “The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them”, not only did the Lord provide the garments, He also clothed them.
