2Chr 20:25-27, 25 When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take their spoil, … They were three days in taking the spoil, it was so much. 26 On the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Beracah, for there they blessed the LORD. …27 Then they returned, … to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them ”rejoice over their enemies.
Judah praised God before the battle, God was moved and He set an ambush upon their enemies. Behind the scenes, God fought for them and all they witnessed was the outcome. Thereafter, for 3 days they gathered the spoils (the wealth of the wicked) for themselves. God gave them double for their troubles. And on the 4th day they assembled in the valley to celebrate.
Never was victory celebrated with more solemn and enlarged thanksgivings in this valley. They blessed God with so much zeal and fervency and gave a name to the place, the valley of Berachah, that is, of blessing. They blessed the Lord before and after the battle. The valley of Berachah is a place of remembrance. Only God is faithful to make us rejoice over our enemies because of His doing, and in the valley of Beracah and our way home we rejoice over God.
