Isa 48:17 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go.”
Teachers provide students with necessary tools (knowledge and skills) to prepare them for the future. The teacher can only give guidance and answer questions but not live lives for his students.
The Lord in Isa 48:17 higlights His work of redemption as the Holy One of Israel our God. The next line reads, “…Who teaches you to profit,”. The Lord is both our redeemer and a teacher. You cannot be taught to redeem yourself, only to profit. Mark that it does not say “who makes you” but “teaches you”. God may provide a job for you but He expects you to work because there is profit in working hard, Pro 14:23 “In all labor there is a profit“. Ecc 2:24 “Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God”. Laziness cripples, and Paul a hard worker writes, “whoever does not work should not eat“. There is profit in being faithful. Profit is an advantageous gain on an investment. Where you want to go has everything to do with how you handle where you are now.
