Rom 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.
Prayer is the means by which the word of Christ births faith and takes root (abides, dwells) in our hearts. It is not a blind faith, it is informed, formed and grounded in the word. Like a small seed, it has potential to grow when watered and nurtured.
This aspect of faith, that is confidence in God can be seen with David’s progressive prayer in Psa 25:4-5 “4 SHOW me Your WAYS, O Lord; TEACH me Your PATHS. 5 LEAD me in Your TRUTH and TEACH me, For You are the God of my salvation; On You I WAIT all the day.” It is through the word by prayer that God shows us His ways. To see may not necessarily mean that we understand it therefore He must teach us to understand and grasp what He shows us. What we learn we quickly realize we can’t live it unless He leads us into all truth. To see and learn is not complete until it is applied, actioned. Every step from showing, to teaching and leading is all credited to God. Our work is to believe and pray. Phi 2:12-13 “12…work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.”
