Joh 3:12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?
Jesus gave the parable of the sower (Mat 13) in relations to understanding heavenly things. Of those who hear and don’t understand, He declares their soil not ready for the gospel, Mat 13:19 “When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart”. This is he who received the seed by the wayside. The good soil has one key ingredient as I have shared in more ways than one, “understanding“. Mat 13:23 “The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!”. Wayside and good soil candidates both heard, only the good soil candidate understood and retained.
We therefore must pray, present the gospel clearly to eagerly waiting hearts that they may truly hear and understand God’s word and be converted. For true conversion to take place, the Holy Spirit must Convince, Convict, Convert and Contain, which is the true gospel.
