Num 14:10 Then all the congregation said to stone them with stones. But the glory of the LORD appeared at the tent of meeting to all the people of Israel.
Moses sent 12 spies to Canaan, 2 spies returned with a different report. They did not minimize the strength or the numbers of the foe, but magnified the mighty power. They dwelt on God’s promises rather than obstacles as the 10. Israel transitioned from unbelief to open rebellion against God, as expressed in the words and the action plan. The connection between the fearful and unbelieving is very close
Caleb and Joshua encouraged Israel not to fear for the Lord was with them, still the people purposed in their hearts to stone them. Satan’s mission is to kill, steal and destory (Joh 10:10). He hates to see God glorified, therefore he will engage war on God’s faithful servants destined to glorify Him. Caleb and Joshua were set to be stoned but the glory of the Lord appeared to protect them from harm’s way. Those who faithfully expose themselves for God are taken under His special protection, and shall be hidden from the rage of men. Psa 118:6 “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
