Mark 5:22-23, … And when He saw Him, he fell at His feet and begged Him earnestly, saying, “My little daughter lies at the point of death. Come and lay hands on her, that she may be healed
It’s been noted that the ruler of the synagogue was the man chosen to care for the physical arrangements of the synagogue services. The position was equivalent of that of the president of the synagogue. This understanding leads us to meet a ruler of synagogue named Jairus who came to meet Jesus. He was a Jew, and reading from passages, Jesus being a Jew was rejected by His own people.
What prompted a ruler to come to Jesus against all odds and fall at His feet? He had a life threatening emergency. He begged Jesus to come and heal his daughter. Despite being a Jew and a ruler, nothing could stop him from seeking help. What people would think of his associations made no difference in his hour of need. When you have an emergency with your marriage, children or something controlling and sucking life out of you, not to seek help is foolishness. Seek help from God, church, counseling, help centers, authority. What people think should not stop you from getting the help you need because God is never too busy with the needs of others to pay attention to you. If all fails and they will, God is all you need.
