Gen 22:1 Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”
Most things used over time are retested to re evaluate their strengths and effectiveness. I recently watched a documentary where they take to the shop the aircraft engines after many hours of service to retest their effectiveness before putting them back to use.
Abraham had gone through a testing period waiting for a son for 25 years, and had now been blessed with Isaac. Years later, he finds himself being taken back to the shop for his faith to be retested whether it continued so strong, so vigorous, so victorious. All the difficulties he had gone through seemed like the storms were over then this encounter comes. God’s testing was for the discovery of other graces.
Faith must be proved. Only in trial does she put forth her strength or dare the impossible before it can be trusted for lengthy use. The testing suggests that it has potential of becoming better than what it is. It’s in that testing that an engine may be retired or may receive an overhaul treatment.
Although Abraham at this point was very old, God was not done with him to retire him. What a blessing that God calls forth into exercise our highest and best because He is not done with us, this test too shall pass.

This has given me a new perspective on how God deals with those he has tested once.
Reminds me that the children of Israel had to perform a sacrifice every time they had victory at war.
We have to keep learning right?
