Psa 92:12-15, 12 The righteous flourish like the PALM TREE and grow like a CEDAR in Lebanon.
Palms are one of the best known trees families. Many common products, foods, beauty, shade come from palms. In the past palms were symbols of victory, peace, and fertility. They grow and flourish in hot climates.
The cedar of Lebanon in Scripture is this aromatic, durable wood highly desirable for building in Iron Age. David used in it building his palace (2Sam 5:11).
With the picture of palms and cedar we can grasp the picture David paints that the righteous “vs 13…are planted in the house of the LORD; they flourish in the courts of our God.” God plants, waters, prunes and nurture for them to flourish. And with His care, “vs 14, They still bear fruit in old age; they are ever full of sap and green” this is to say the vigorous growth, longevity, utility, fragrance, and beauty of these noble trees, set forth the life, character, and destiny of the righteous. The purpose of His doing is for us “vs. 15 to declare that the LORD is upright; he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.“
My life and it’s usefulness is entirely credited to God. We are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for every good works (Eph 2:10).
