Gen 30:1, “….She said to Jacob, “Give me children, or I shall die!” (b)

The last thing any patient wants is for a doctor to make incorrect diagnosis of their illness. Incorrect diagnosis leads to incorrect medication that can be deadly.

For Rachel, Jacob was the problem. In her estimation, he was the reason she was not having children. She saw that he was having children with Leah but not her. Rachel could never be so weak as to imagine that it was in the power of Jacob to give children at his pleasure. This is what happens when wrong conclusions are directed to incorrect diagnosis.

Rachel was also seeking happiness in a temporal situation. Note that she was also not seeking for a child but children. The love of her husband was not good enough, perhaps even a child or a few will not make her happy as long as her sister had more than she as she thought. She was ready to abandon it all and die if she did not get what she wanted. To Rachel, it was not right that someone else had more than she did, and her lashing out could not bring her to a place to examine herself. When you can find faults with everybody but yourself, perhaps like Rachel you are seeking wrong solutions or right solutions from wrong places.
