Mark 6:7-13, 7 And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits…12 So they went out and preached that people should repent. 13 And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them.
God’s work must be done by God’s Spirit which is not active unless prayer power is in operation. The point is this, it is not if you are doing God’s work that is important, but how you are doing God’s work, and by what means you are doing it.
The tragedy today, we have become too busy working for the Lord that we have neglected spending time with Him in prayers. We love the thought of being used of God more than communing with Him in prayers. As David Wilkerson in one of his preachings pointed out, we love the display of the Mount of Transfiguration experience but get bored to sleep when it comes to prayers.
The disciples went out in Jesus’ power and as we will soon see, it was power produced in prayers. Expensive cell phone is good for nothing without power. “The greatest thing anyone can do for God or man is pray“ (S.D. Gordon). God’s work is effective when powered by a God Himself.
