Col 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men
We work because God called us to it and made away for it. The aspect of work did not come after the fall or result of fall. From the time man was put in the garden, hard work has been part of his life and must be looked at from a heavenly perspective.
There is reward in working hard but more than that, God’s nature partly shines through His ambassadors representing Him in the workforce. If God is our source, our earthly employers are the means by which He provides. If you think about it, how many are more qualified and yet still struggle to find a place to work? A sense of humility should grip our hearts when we remember that God is our source. He fulfills His plans and purposes through us.
If we distinguish the Source from the Means, we shall be motivated to work hard knowing that He is our employer. We can be faithful with little or much knowing that He knows why He has placed us there in the first place. Joseph worked diligently where he was placed, and God was with him and blessed the work of his hands. Take ownership and be out to please the Lord in the job He has placed you in.
