The Purpose For Our Calling

Eph 1:6 to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.

God’s greatest motivation is to make His name great by making much of Himself through His people. Jesus walked on water, which was expected because He is God. However when He made Peter walk on water, it brought more glory to God. The source of all we are, and have, and hope to be, so far as salvation is concerned, is the will of God for us. In this, He takes pleasure in blessing us and we turn the blessings to praise of the glory of His grace.

God from commemoration past has consistently been concerned for His name. “21 But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went. 22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, …23 And I will sanctify My great name” (Eze 36:21-23)

To the end that His grace in adopting us as children may be to His praise and glory. The glory of His grace may be praised by all His creatures, men and angels.

Nothing built for the glory of man will survive His scrutiny. But what is done for God’s glory will endure forever.” (R.C. Sproul), that is, that we should live and behave ourselves in such a manner that His rich grace might be magnified, and appear glorious, and worthy of the highest praise. All is of God, and from Him, and through Him, and therefore all must be to Him, and center in His praise.
