2Co 8:10-11, 10 And in this matter I give my judgment: this benefits you, who a year ago started not only to do this work but also to desire to do it. 11 So now finish doing it as well, so that your readiness in desiring it may be matched by your completing it out of what you have.
Excelling in acts of grace is beneficial (is profitable). We do good because it is right in the eyes of our God; our motive is important. God blesses His people with great things in life, especially spiritual blessings, “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation” (Psa 68:19). If you sowed material goods, you may reap both material and spiritual. Greater reaping is in the discoveries of His love, the joys of His salvation, sustenance, and increase of every grace (Eph 1:3). Think of our common testimonies, “l gave money and God gave me back more money“, the other testimonies we neglect, “I gave material stuff and profited greatly in the spiritual blessings“.
Our extraordinary consolation is to continue doing good and finish well. In the process, we will reap all kinds of benefits (blessings) to sustain us in this journey.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Gal 6:9)
