1Tim 6:10, “For the LOVE of MONEY is a root of all KINDS of evils”
Is money truly the root of all evil? That is what many believe. The truth is that is not actually what Paul wrote. Paul made it clear to Timothy in this verse. It is through these types of craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.
Reading scripture in context often takes care of many issues that people raise. How can money be evil, isn’t it needed to live? Notice the actual verse has words that are often left out when many attempt to quote the verse. It is not money that is the root of all evil because that would mean a poor person couldn’t commit evil. Sin ruins all hearts. It is the LOVE of money that is the root of all KINDS of evil.
You, no doubt, know many that are never content because they never have enough. How much money is enough money? For John D. Rockefeller the answer was “just a little bit more.” At the peak of his wealth, Rockefeller had a net worth of about 1% of the entire US economy. He owned 90% of all the oil & gas industry of his time. He was not content. But this should not be the testimony for God’s people.
Contentment implies that the Christian may rest assured that he will always have enough in the Lord. The psalmist David prayed, (Psa 37:25), “I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken or his children begging for bread.”
The Love of money will cause one to deviate from the faith, and not trust in God’s provision. Many are willfully plagued as a result of many unnecessary sorrows.
Soli Deo Gloria: Are you content as a Christian, or are you like Rockefeller believing enough is “just a little bit more”. Be faithful and thankful for what He has given you, and if He desires to, He will give you more.

This is powerful. The love of money is dangerous to our relationship with God.
