Heb 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
To trust God is to patiently wait and that is our biggest struggle. The blessings of Abraham are ours, but can we withstand the process?
God promised Abraham to bless him with a son. After 10 years, Abraham still had no son. A son by Haggar did not qualify. God clarified that the son of the promise would be by his barren wife, Sarah. It took another 15 years before Isaac was born (25 years of waiting).
Rom 4:18-19, “18 In hope he believed against hope, that he should become the father of many nations, as he had been told, ….” 19 He did not weaken in faith when he considered his own body, which was as good as dead (since he was about a hundred years old), or when he considered the barrenness of Sarah’s womb.”
The strength of nature, as well as grace, is from God. He makes the barren soul and a womb fruitful. But, notice this, of all the bible promises concerning birth, none, even of that of Jesus, was instantaneous like the miracles Jesus performed. All the prophesies sounded like this, ”next year around this time you shall bear a child”, roughly the life cycle of pregnancies. No woman who gets pregnant today, expects the child today. They hold on to the first-fruits by faith with patience expecting the good in its time (Ecc 3:11, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”) .
