Luk 22:44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
If normalized, prayers will lack effectiveness, fervency, and intensity. I think that sometimes we minimize the effectiveness of prayer because if God is sovereign and He has decreed what will happen, how will prayer make any difference? Jesus was aware of all of these considerations and still prayed with such intensity in the garden of Gethsemane.
I am convinced that intensified fervent prayers do not change the purposes of God, but could change direction or means to that purpose. The result will not change, but the time and the process can. God told David that his son would not live; and yet David still prayed fervently believing that God could show mercy and prolong his son’s life.
God through His Word offers us a challenge: “Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me” (Psa 50:15).
We call. He delivers! We glorify Him.
Jesus prayed heartfelt prayers asking the Father if there was another way. Three times He prayed and three times He yielded and the Father sent His angels to minister to Him.
When was the last time you prayed with intensity? Or prayed with urgency for the lost, the sick, for marriages, the times, etc and when done, much time had gone, and you were exhausted from emptying the entire tank unto the Lord? That is what is missing in our prayers but today we can get back or get started and take Him at His Word.

I am also encouraged that prayer can bring us God’s Mercy and save us from his judgement. Like with the people of Ninevah. Prayer is humility. Prayer is submission to God. Thank you for such a beautiful devotion.
Very true my sister. Anytime Israel cried out to God in repentance, God faithfully came to their rescue. We must be vigilant in prayers because it get’s God’s attention.
